Billboard Artwork Design Tips

What Type of Artwork is Best for a Billboard?

Similar to other platforms, keep billboard messaging and contact information simple. Here are some tips when designing billboard artwork.

  • Use 7 words of copy or less on your main message. The viewer will only see your ad for an average of 3 seconds (or less depending on how fast commuters travel).
  • Use large, BOLD letters and colors. Keep the clutter to a minimum with a graphic/picture, headline/call to action, and logo.
  • Multiple ads can run to reduce the amount of copy per ad.
  • Keep time-sensitive messages in mind when promoting events, games, data feeds, and food/drink specials during your campaign.
  • It’s ok to include directions such as “3 miles ahead” or “next right!” as a call to action. It’s also very important to choose your location strategically. Tell us about your project and we can help!
